GBM at 2008 Swim and Fin OceanFest

A small but fun loving group of Great Bay Masters participated in the Swim and Fin OceanFest in Salem, MA on July 19, 2008. Swimmers compete at a 500 or 1500 meter distance. There are two divisions: "Conventinal Rules" and "Special Maximum Velocity Rules" where fins, hand paddles, and snorkels are permitted. In addition to the swim race there are stations with children games, Tide Pool Touch tank, Yoga session and kayak races. The swim is a fundraiser for the Salem Sound CoastWatch. The water was infested with sharks, barracudas and other scary ocean creatures :-) but all Great Bay Masters reached the finish line uninjured - see picture. Come next year and enjoy the time after swim at the beach with your family and friends or in the downtown with Salem's centuries old witches and pirates ...don't forget to stop for the world's best sandwiches at Cusco's.

Great Bay Masters welcomes new members. We have a lot to offer - swim with us!
