Another fun year at Mashpee!Twenty Great Bay Masters participated in the 1 mile and 3.1 mile open water swims at Johnís Pond in Mashpee. The weather was great for the race, as it seems to be every single year. After all the cold and rain this spring, it only took one week of hot weather to warm the water. The course length was just about correct, probably just a little bit long.

It was a record turnout for the races this year, with about 250 entrants. The word is getting out, this is a fun event in a clean pond, at a beautiful location.

We also enjoyed our usual extracurricular festivities Ė a group dinner on Friday night, followed by a trip to the local amusement park. Some camped at Otis Trailer Village, others opted for the comforts of local hotels. After the race on Saturday we went to South Cape Beach to enjoy the sun and ocean.Itís a good opportunity to relax, and get a little warm down swim!

This race is always the last Saturday in June, mark your calendar for 2004.††
