Great Bay Masters at the 2000 New England Masters Open Water Swim Championship

A good sized group of Great Bay Masters participated at the Mi Te Na (“Swims Like a Rock”) 1-mile swim at Willey’s Pond in Barnstead New Hampshire on September 10, 2000. The race began at the civilized hour of 11:00 a.m. Willey’s Pond is crystal clear and tranquil, with a nice sandy beach entry. The swim course was a half-mile triangle, set accurately with a GPS by Tom Mack (thank you Tom!). It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day without a cloud in the sky.

The turnout was a little low this year, which provided an excellent opportunity for participants to rake in the hardware! All racers received medals for placing top three in their age group.

We had a cookout after the race, and everyone enjoyed the good food and post race socializing. Thanks to David Grilli for organizing this excellent event.

Spread the word: this event has it all, and is worthy of much better participation. Don’t miss it next year!
